11-177. VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.
"VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER" MEANS THE NUMERALS,
LETTERS, OR COMBINATION OF NUMERALS AND LETTERS ON A
VEHICLE THAT THE ADMINISTRATION DESIGNATES FOR THE
PURPOSE OF IDENTIFYING THE VEHICLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §1-134.
The better—known and more commonly accepted
term "vehicle identification number" is
substituted for the present "identifying
number" as the defined term.

the Annotated Code included in it only those definitions
of present Art. 66 1/2, Subtitle 1, that have general
applicability throughout various titles of the Maryland
Vehicle Law. The rest of these definitions have been
deleted or transferred as noted below.
As to the applicability of definitions in disputed
cases, see §11—201 of this title; as to uniformity of
interpretation, see §11-202 of this title.
