83,579 votes were cast for the adoption of said Chapter
871 and 96,483 votes were cast against the adoption of
said Chapter 871, the said Chapter 871 of the Acts of
1975 has therefore failed ratification by the voters of
Montgomery County, Maryland.

1975, Chapter 878 — Montgomery County — Sunday Observance
STATE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF ELECTION LAWS
ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23—11 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the State
Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland, on November 2, 1976, an Act known as Chapter
878 of the Acts of 1975 was submitted to the voters of
Montgomery County, Maryland under the provisions of said
Chapter 878, said Act being as follows:
AN ACT concerning Montgomery County — Business on
Sundays — MC 29A—75. For the purpose of allowing all
businesses in Montgomery County to open on Sunday, and
permitting certain employees to choose their own day of
rest, and providing certain penalties for violations, and
providing that no merchant is required to be open on
Sunday, and providing for a referendum.
And it is hereby certified that at said election,
139,264 votes were cast for the adoption of said Chapter
878 and 81,532 votes were cast against the adoption of
said Chapter 878, the said Chapter 878 of the Acts of
1975 has therefore been ratified by the voters of
Montgomery County, Maryland.
