A House Joint Resolution concerning
Higher Education Libraries - Faculty Reciprocal
Borrowing
FOR the purpose of requesting the State Board for Higher
Education to develop and implement guidelines for
reciprocal borrowing privileges for faculty members
of books and other data sources among all
institutions of higher education receiving fiscal
support from State revenues.
WHEREAS, Higher education faculties must have access
to the broadest collection of available library materials
in order to prepare lectures and carry out research
activities; and
WHEREAS, The present inter library loan procedures
are not adequate to provide materials in a timely
fashion; and
WHEREAS, The State is providing financial support to
all segments of higher education, including private
institutions, from general revenues; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the State Board for Higher Education develop guidelines
for reciprocal library borrowing privileges for faculty
members among all institutions, public and private,
receiving fiscal support from State revenues; and be it
