WHEREAS, If the use of the Crownsville facilities
are to be changed, consideration should be given to the
possible use of such facilities as the Maryland Veteran's
Home; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene be requested
to develop a comprehensive and multipurpose program for
the Crownsville Center; and be it further RESOLVED, That appropriate catchment areas be
redefined studied and redefinition be recommended as
needed and required resources be defined, and that the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene report to the
General Assembly during prior to the beginning of the
1978 Session. Approved May 17, 1977.
No. 18 (Senate Joint Resolution 35) A Senate Joint Resolution concerning Reclamation Programs and Training FOR the purpose of endorsing efforts underway on the part
of Frostburg State College, Maryland Energy and
Coastal Zone Administration of the Department of
Natural Resources and Appalachian Environmental
Laboratory of the University of Maryland Center for
Environmental and Estuarine Studies to establish a
cooperative academic program in reclamation and to
undertake joint research activities; and, assuming
formal adoption of such an academic relationship by
the appropriate educational authorities, arranging
the relocation of the Maryland Bureau of Mines,
currently located in Westernport, Maryland, to a
suitable facility on the Frostburg State College
Campus in order to facilitate and enhance such a
joint educational venture involving State regulatory
and educational institutions. WHEREAS, Officials of Frostburg State College, the
Maryland Energy and Coastal Zone Administration of the
Department of Natural Resources, and the Appalachian
Environmental Laboratory of the University of Maryland
Center for Environmental and Estuarine Studies have
during the past year engaged in a series of discussions
for the purpose of exploring the feasibility of
