Ch. 13
LAWS OF MARYLAND
As to the substitution of "Administration" for
present references to the State Roads
Commission and its chairman, see §8-207 of
this subtitle and its revisor's note. The reference in present Art. 89B, §3 (a) to
the required "approval of the Secretary" is
deleted as unnecessary in light of §8—203 of
this subtitle. The reference in present Art. 89B, §40 to the
employment of "attorneys" is deleted as
obsolete and as inconsistent with §2-106 of
this article, Art. 32A, §5 of the Code, and
present Art. 89B, §3B (as to the last, see
General Revisor's Note to this title). As to
special attorneys required from time to time,
the current practice of both the State Highway
Administration and the State Roads Commission
is to obtain their services in accordance with
the general requirements of Art. 32A, §5 of
the Code. The fourth sentence of present §3(a), which
provides for removal of employees as
"hereinafter provided" is deleted as
superfluous. Other than certain specific
references to Art. 64A of the Code, there are
no "hereinafter provided" removal provisions. As to the employment of personnel generally,
see, also, §2-102 of this article. As to the
employment of architects and engineers, in
particular, see, also, Title 2, Subtitle 3 of
this article. (F)   EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS. THE ADMINISTRATION MAY PURCHASE ANY MACHINES,
TOOLS, IMPLEMENTS, APPLIANCES, SUPPLIES, MATERIALS, AND
WORKING AGENCIES THAT IT CONSIDERS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT
ANY OF ITS POWERS OR DUTIES UNDER THIS TITLE. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 89B, §7(e). The only changes are in style. (G)   LEASE OF OFFICES. THE ADMINISTRATION MAY RENT OR LEASE ANY OFFICES
AND OTHER PLACES THAT IT CONSIDERS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT
ITS POWERS AND DUTIES. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language
derived without substantive change from the
fifth sentence of Art. 89B, §3(a).
