FOR the purpose of repealing the prohibition against
company stores owned, conducted, or carried on by
railroad and mining companies; and generally
relating to company stores and to cooperative
stores.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 235 of Article 23 - Miscellaneous
Companies, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments to read as
follows:
Article 23 - Miscellaneous Companies
[235.
No railroad or mining company formed or organized
under any of the provisions of this article, or which has
organized under any existing laws, charter or act of the
General Assembly of this State, shall own, conduct or
carry on any store, or have any interest in any store, or
receive any portion of the profits thereof; but nothing
herein contained shall prevent the employees of any
corporation from forming cooperative stores.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977.
