MARVIN MANDEL, Governor                            3021 any time within the next succeeding [twelve] 12 months
upon the payment of a $15 fee [of fifteen dollars for
professional engineers and fifteen dollars for
professional land surveyors and seven dollars for
property line surveyors]. If any registrant fails to
renew his certificate within the [twelve—month] 12-MONTH
period provided above[,] and later applies for renewal,
he may be required to present reasons for [said] renewal.
The Board[, at its discretion,] may grant a renewal of
[such] THE certificate, in which case the renewal fee
shall be the same as the registration fee for
professional engineers [and for professional land
surveyors, and for property line surveyors], or THE BOARD
may require reapplication. [(f)] (D) [Should] IF the Board [deny] DENIES the
issuance of a certificate of registration to any
applicant, the initial fee deposited shall be retained as
an application fee, 14. (a)        Examinations shall be held at [such] THE time
and place [as] THAT the Board [shall determine. When]
DETERMINES. IF examinations are required on fundamental
engineering [or land surveying] subjects (such as are
ordinarily given in approved engineering [or land
surveying] curricula), the applicant shall be permitted
to take [such] THE examination prior to his completion of
the requisite years of experience, and credit for the
successful completion of this examination by the
applicant shall be valid for a period of ten years. The
Board shall issue to each applicant, upon successfully
completing the examination in the fundamentals of
engineering [or land surveying], a certificate stating
that he has passed the examination and that his name has
been recorded as an engineer-in-training [or land
surveyor—in-training]. (b)        The examination in the principles and practice
of engineering [or land surveying shall] MAY not be taken
by an applicant until he has satisfied all of the other
requirements for registration set forth in this article. (c)        The scope of the examinations and the methods
of procedure for taking and grading shall be prescribed
by the Board to test the applicant's ability to design,
plan and direct engineering works [or land surveying] so
as to insure the safety of life, health and property,
[Separate examinations shall be given in engineering and
in land surveying.] 15. (a) The Board shall issue a certificate of
registration upon payment of THE REQUIRED registration
fees [as provided for in this article] to any applicant
who, in the opinion of the Board, has satisfactorily met
