LAWS OF MARYLAND
[(k)] (H) The execution, as a contractor, of work
designed by a professional engineer [or a professional
land surveyor,] or the supervision of the construction of
such work as a foreman or superintendent, shall] IS not
[be deemed to be] the practice of engineering [or land
surveying]. [(1) ] (I) Any person having the necessary
qualifications prescribed in this article to entitle him
to registration [shall be] IS eligible for [such]
registration although he may not be practicing his
profession at the time of making his application. 13. (a)    The registration fee for professional
engineers [shall be thirty—five dollars, twenty dollars]
IS $35, of which $20 shall accompany the application[,
the remaining amount to] AND $15 SHALL be paid upon
issuance of the certificate. (b)    The fee for engineer—in—training [or land
surveyor—in-training shall be ten dollars,] IS $10, which
shall accompany the application and shall include the
cost of examination and issuance of the certificate.
When application for registration as a professional
engineer is made by an engineer—in-training who is
certified in this State, an additional fee of
[twenty-five dollars] $25 shall be paid, [ten dollars] of
$10 which shall accompany the application and [the
remaining amount] $15 shall be paid upon issuance of the
certificate as a professional engineer. [(e)] (C) Certificates of registration shall
expire on the last day of June following their issuance
or renewal, and shall be invalid after that date unless
renewed. [It shall be the duty of the] THE secretary of
the Board [to] SHALL notify by regular mail every person
certified [hereunder] UNDER THIS ARTICLE of the date of
expiration of his certificate, and the amount of the fee
required for its renewal for one year. [Such] THE
notice shall be mailed to the registrant at his last
known address at least one month in advance of the date
of the expiration of [said] HIS certificate[; however,
failure]. FAILURE to receive [such] THE notice [shall]
DOES not prevent the certificate from becoming invalid
after the expiration date. Renewal may be effected at
any time prior to July 1 by the payment of a $10 fee [of
ten dollars] for professional engineers [and ten dollars
for professional land surveyors and five dollars for
property line surveyors]. Renewal shall be evidenced by
the issuance of an annual registration card, bearing the
date of expiration and the signatures of the chairman and
secretary of the Board. Upon failure of any registrant
to renew his certificate annually prior to July 1, as
required above, his right to practice shall be
invalidated, but [such] THE certificate may be renewed at
