equivalency examination. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 77 — Public Education Section 83(a) Annotated Code of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 83 (a) of Article 77 - Public
Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows: Article 77 - Public Education 83. (a) Any person who (1) has not obtained a high
school certificate or diploma, [and who] (2) has resided
in Maryland or on a federal reservation within the State
of Maryland for at least three months, [and who] (3) is
[17] 16 years of age or older, and (4) has withdrawn from
a regular full-time public or private school program
[for at least three months], may obtain a diploma by
examination in accordance with this section. The State
Board of Education may waive the [age and/or] residence
requirements of this section[,] if [they deem such] IT
CONSIDERS A waiver justified.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1977. Approved May 26, 1977.
