Reports and Publications
FOR the purpose of requiring the State Department of
Legislative Reference to preserve, catalogue, and
index all reports and publications filed with or
submitted to the Department by the various State
agencies and officials pursuant to certain sections
of the Annotated Code; requiring the Department to
compile and maintain lists of these reports and
publications and periodically forward them to
members of the General Assembly; providing that any
State agency or official required to submit an
annual or periodic report to the General Assembly
shall comply with this reporting requirement by
submitting five copies of the report to the
Department of Legislative Reference; providing that
State agencies, except upon specific request, shall
send any published materials to the Department of
Legislative Reference, not to members of the General
Assembly; and relating generally to the submission
and distribution of State agency reports and
publications.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 51(d), (e) and (f) be and
they are hereby added to Article 40 — General Assembly,
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as follows:
Article 40 - General Assembly
51.
(D) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PRESERVE, CATALOGUE, AND
INDEX ALL REPORTS AND PUBLICATIONS FILED WITH OR
SUBMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT BY THE VARIOUS STATE AGENCIES
AND OFFICIALS IN COMPLIANCE WITH EITHER THE REQUIREMENT
OF SECTION 53 OF THIS CODE OR THE REQUIREMENTS OF
NUMEROUS SECTIONS ELSEWHERE IN THE CODE, AS MODIFIED BY
SUBSECTION (E) OF THIS SECTION, FOR THESE STATE AGENCIES
AND OFFICIALS TO SUBMIT ANNUAL OR PERIODIC REPORTS TO THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL ALSO COMPILE AND
MAINTAIN A LIST OF ALL OF THESE REPORTS AND PUBLICATIONS,
AND SHALL PERIODICALLY FORWARD THESE LISTS TO THE MEMBERS
OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF FURNISHING
THEM A REFERENCE SOURCE FROM WHICH THEY MAY REQUEST
REPORTS AND PUBLICATIONS IN WHICH THEY ARE INTERESTED,
EITHER THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE OR
DIRECTLY FROM THE ISSUING STATE AGENCY OR OFFICIAL. EACH
STATE AGENCY OR OFFICIAL SHALL PROVIDE TO THE DEPARTMENT
