LAWS OF MARYLAND
Worcester County. There shall be printed on the ballots
or ballot labels to be used at said election, the title
of this Act and underneath said title, on separate lines,
a square or box to the right of and opposite the words
"for Sunday sales," and a corresponding square or box to
the right of and opposite the words "against Sunday
sales," so that the voters of said county shall be able
to designate his or her decision for or against said Act.
This Act shall be applicable only in such election
district or districts of the County, if any, in which
election district or districts a majority of the voters
participating in said election shall have voted "for
Sunday sales." SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
Board of Supervisors of Elections of Worcester County
shall promptly report to the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Worcester County the results of this referendum and
the Clerk of the Circuit Court shall promptly certify the
results of the referendum to the Secretary of State of
Maryland.] SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section
534T of Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1976 Replacement Volume and
1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
534T.
(a)    In ALL OF Worcester County, the retail or
wholesale sale of wearing apparel, hardware, notions,
novelties, antique shops, flea markets and all other
properly licensed retail or wholesale establishments,
with the exception of those items otherwise restricted by
law, are permitted to operate on Sunday. (b)    This section does not affect or change any
existing public general law or public local law
pertaining to Sabbath breaking in the City of Ocean City. (c)    The State's Attorney of Worcester County may
petition the circuit court to enjoin any violation of
this section. (d)    Any person, firm or corporation violating the
provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction, is subject to the following
penalties. The first conviction is punishable by a fine
not to exceed [one hundred dollars ($100.00)] $100, a
second conviction is punishable by a fine not to exceed
[five hundred dollars ($500.00)] $500, and for a third or
subsequent conviction by a fine not to exceed [five
hundred dollars ($500.00)] $500 for each employee caused,
directed or authorized to work in violation of this
section. [Nothing contained herein shall] THIS SECTION
