SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 368, 372, 374, 376, 379, 381, 382
and 386 of Article 43 — Health, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be
and they are hereby repealed,

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Section 368 be and it is hereby added to Article 43 —
Health, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) to read as
follows:

|
(A) IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.
(B) "BOARD" MEANS THE BOARD OF EXAMINEES IN
OPTOMETRY.
(C) "DEPARTMENT" MEANS THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
AND MENTAL HYGIENE.
(D) "LICENSE" INCLUDES A CERTIFICATE OF
REGISTRATION OR OF EXAMINATION AND THEIR RENEWAL
CERTIFICATE.
(E) "PRACTICE OF OPTOMETRY" MEANS THE EMPLOYMENT
OF ANY MEANS EXCEPT THE USE Of DRUGS, MEDICINE OR
SURGERY, KNOWN TO THE SCIENCE OF OPTICS TO DETERMINE,
CORRECT DETERMINING, CORRECTING, and prescribing by means
of lenses for any optical condition existing in the human
eye and the employment of any means, except the use of
drugs, medicine, or surgery, to detect diseased
conditions.
(f) "Secretary" means the Secretary of Health and
Mental Hygiene.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
369 through 371, 373, 375, 377, 378, and 383 through 385
of Article 43 — Health, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
