"LIMIT FOR CUMULATIVE NOISE EXPOSURE" MEANS THE
MAXIMUM CUMULATIVE NOISE EXPOSURE FOR A GIVEN LAND USE
THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THAT LAND USE.

(F) NOISE ZONE.
"NOISE ZONE" MEANS AN AREA OF LAND SURROUNDING AN
AIRPORT WITHIN WHICH THE CUMULATIVE NOISE EXPOSURE IS
EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN THE LOWEST LIMIT FOR CUMULATIVE
NOISE EXPOSURE ESTABLISHED BY THE ADMINISTRATOR.

"SUBSTANTIALLY ALTER" INCLUDES RECONSTRUCT, REBUILD,

patterned after that appearing in §5-501(c) of
this title and added to conform the otherwise
similar language of this and other subtitles
of this title.
REVISOR'S NOTE TO SECTION: Present Art. 1A,
§7-705(b)(6), which defines "political
subdivision", is deleted as unnecessary; in
this regard, see revisor's note to §5—101 of
this title.
Present Art. 1A, §8-803(a), which defines
various terms used in present §8-803 — now
Part III of this subtitle — is deleted as
unnecessary since it is repetitious of the
definitions appearing, either in §5-101 of
this title or in this section.
5-802. PURPOSE OF SUBTITLE.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBTITLE IS TO:
(1) PROVIDE A POSITIVE BASIS FOR ABATEMENT OF
EXISTING NOISE PROBLEMS IN COMMUNITIES NEAR AIRPORTS AND
TO PREVENT NEW NOISE PROBLEMS; AND
