AN ACT concerning
Apples - Excise Tax
FOR the purpose of providing a certain maximum allowable
excise tax on certain commercially grown apples.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 10-406 (a) of Article
Agriculture, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1974
Volume and 1976 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed
and reenacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article - Agriculture
10-406.
(a) An excise tax [of 1 cent] NOT EXCEEDING OF 3
CENTS per bushel is levied on all commercial apples grown
and sold in the State. However, the first 500 bushels of
apples sold by any grower in any one crop season shall be
exempt from this tax.
