155                                               LAWS OF MARYLAND                                Ch. 13
(2)   TO THE EXTENT PRACTICABLE, THE SECRETARY
SHALL ADOPT STANDARDS THAT ARE SIMILAR TO THE STANDARDS
ADOPTED FOR THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE. (3)   STANDARDS ADOPTED OK OR AFTER JULY 1,
1974, ON MINIMUM HIRING QUALIFICATIONS OF STATE AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION POLICE OFFICERS MAY NOT AFFECT THE STATUS
OF ANY INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS A QUALIFIED STATE AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION POLICE OFFICER ON THAT DATE. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
the first two sentences of Art. 1A, §5—509(c). In paragraph (2) of this subsection, the term
"similar to" is substituted for the somewhat
nonsequential "consistent with". In paragraph (3) of this subsection, the
reference to "July 1, 1974" is substituted for
"hereafter" for clarity. This date was the
effective date of Ch. 665, Acts of 1974, which
enacted this provision. The only other changes are in style. (D)   RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE ADMINISTRATION. THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL ADOPT RULES AND
REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE OPERATION AND CONDUCT OF THE
STATE AVIATION ADMINISTRATION POLICE FORCE AND OF STATE
AVIATION ADMINISTRATION POLICE OFFICERS. THESE RULES AND
REGULATIONS SHALL BE CONSISTENT WITH THE STANDARDS
ESTABLISHED BY THE SECRETARY. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
the third sentence of Art. 1A, §5-509(c). The only changes are in style. The last sentence of present Art. 1A,
§5—509 (c), which requires observance and
compliance with these rules and regulations,
is deleted as unnecessary and as implicit in
the power to adopt rules and regulations. (E)   RETIREMENT SYSTEM. EACH FULL TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE STATE AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION POLICE FORCE SHALL BECOME A MEMBER OF THE
BALTIMORE CITY FIRE AND POLICE EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT
SYSTEM. THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL REIMBURSE THE CITY FOR
THE EMPLOYER'S COST OF THE PENSION COVERAGE. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language
derived without substantive change from the
last sentence of Art. 1A, §9-902, as it
relates to the State Aviation Administration
Police Force.
