AN ACT concerning
Washington County — Bids on Contracts
FOR the purpose of altering the amount involved in a
contract for purchase or sale which requires that
the County advertise for bids; and extending the
rule to apply to any contract for any County project
or expenditure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 8-23 of the Public Local Laws of
Washington County being Article 22 of the Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1970 Edition and 1975 Supplement, as
amended by Chapter 111 of the Acts of 1976) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 22
8-23.
The County Commissioners of Washington County, or
any employee of that County, may not enter into any
contract of sale or purchase OR ANY CONTRACT FOR ANY
COUNTY WORK, PROJECT, OR OTHER EXPENDITURE to which the
County is a party, where the amount involved in the
contract exceeds [$5,000] $10,000 without advertising for
bids in one or more newspapers published in the County,
the publication of that advertisement to appear at least
once a week prior to the date on which bids are to be
