Ch. 14
1158
LAWS OF MARYLAND
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language
added without substantive change to clarify
the present, repeated references to "equipment
and mechanisms" and to avoid undue repetition
in this title of the latter term. (D)   FACILITY. "FACILITY" MEANS A LICENSED DEALER OR A VEHICLE
GARAGE, REPAIR SHOP, OR GASOLINE SERVICE STATION. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language
added to avoid undue repetition in this title
of the listed entities, which are taken from
the checklist presently appearing in Art. 66
1/2, §13-101(3); see revisor's note to
subsection (f) of this section. Use of the
term "facility" also avoids circular,
nonsequential statements such as that used in
present Art. 66 1/2, §13-102: "The Division
shall ... approve ... approved facilities...." (E)   INSPECTION CERTIFICATE. "INSPECTION CERTIFICATE" MEANS A WRITTEN
CERTIFICATION BY AN INSPECTION STATION THAT: (1)   CERTIFIES THAT, AS OF ITS DATE, A
SPECIFIED VEHICLE MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE STANDARDS FOR
EQUIPMENT ESTABLISHED UNDER THIS TITLE; AND (2)   IS SIGNED AND DATED ON BEHALF OF THE
INSPECTION STATION BY THE REGISTERED INDIVIDUAL WHO
PERSONALLY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 66 1/2, §13-101(6). The term "inspection certificate" is
substituted for "certificate" to avoid any
possible confusion with references to other
documents such as a repair order certification
or a certificate of title. In this section and throughout this title,
present references to "mechanisms" are deleted
as unnecessary in light of the definition of
"equipment" in subsection (c) of this section. In item (2) of this subsection, the term
"registered individual" is substituted for
"authorized person" to conform to nomenclature
adopted by the Administration, which, in its
regulations, refers to a "registered
inspection mechanic". See, e.g., Regulation
11.02.11.03. The only other changes are in style.
