21-1411. TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES.
(A) PROHIBITED.
EXCEPT AS PERMITTED BY THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF
THE MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY, A PERSON MAY NOT
TRANSPORT ANY OF THE FOLLOWING DANGEROUS ARTICLES ACROSS
OR THROUGH ANY VEHICULAR CROSSING:
(1) COMBUSTIBLE LIQUIDS;
(2) COMPRESSED GASES;
(3) CORROSIVE LIQUIDS;
(4) EXPLOSIVES;
(5) FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS;
(6) FLAMMABLE SOLIDS;
(7) OXIDIZING MATERIALS; OR
(8) POISONOUS ARTICLES.
(B) PURPOSE OF SECTION.
TO SECURE AND PRESERVE LIFE AND PROPERTY, THE
MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY MAY ADOPT RULES AND
REGULATIONS TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (A)
OF THIS SECTION.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
from former Art. 89B, §120C, previously
decodified and now appearing in Section 3 of
Ch. 608, Acts of 1976.
It is revised and placed here to provide a
uniform placement and treatment of all traffic
regulations relating to vehicular crossings.

The scope of this section has been broadened
somewhat. On its face, Art. 89B, §120C
applies only to the Susquehanna River Toll
Bridge, Potomac River Toll Bridge, Chesapeake
Bay Toll Bridge, and the Harbor Tunnel.
However, there is no reason that it should not
apply equally to the Parallel Bay Bridge, the
Outer Harbor Bridge, or any other toll bridge
or tunnel; in fact, the Authority considers it
applicable to all these facilities. It is
