Ch. 13
LAWS OF MARYLAND
"TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES PROJECT" INCLUDES: (1)   THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER BRIDGE, THE HARRY
W. NICE MEMORIAL POTOMAC RIVER BRIDGE, THE WILLIAM
PRESTON LANE, JR. MEMORIAL CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE AND
PARALLEL CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE, THE BALTIMORE HARBOR TUNNEL, THE BALTIMORE HARBOR OUTER CROSSING FRANCIS SCOTT KEY BRIDGE, AND THE JOHN F. KENNEDY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY, TOGETHER WITH THEIR APPURTENANT CAUSEWAYS,
APPROACHES, INTERCHANGES, ENTRANCE PLAZAS, TOLL
STATIONS, AND SERVICE FACILITIES; (2)   ANY OTHER PROJECT FOR TRANSPORTATION
FACILITIES THAT THE AUTHORITY AUTHORIZES TO BE ACQUIRED
OR CONSTRUCTED; AND (3)     ANY ADDITIONS, IMPROVEMENTS, OR
ENLARGEMENTS TO ANY OF THESE PROJECTS, WHENEVER
AUTHORIZED. REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection presently appears as
Art. 94A, §1(o). In item (1) of this subsection, the current
official names of each of the facilities have
been inserted to avoid antiquity. The present reference to the Hawkins Point
Port Facility is deleted as obsolete since the
bonds that financed it have been paid off and
the trust indenture released. It is no longer
a "transportation facilities project". The only other changes are in style. The term "transportation facility" is defined
in subsection (h) of this section and
§3-101(1) of this article. REVISOR'S NOTE TO SECTION: In revising this section,
the Commission to Revise the Annotated Code
included only those definitions of present
Art. 94A, §1 that relate to the Maryland
Transportation Authority and its activities.
Sec. 3-101 of this article contains the
balance of present Art. 94A, §1, except for
§1 (d) and parts of §1(f), which are deleted as
unnecessary. See revisor's note to §3-101. 4-102. LEGISLATIVE POLICY. THE EXERCISE OF THE POWERS GRANTED BY THIS TITLE IS
IN ALL RESPECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE OF THIS
STATE AND FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THEIR HEALTH AND LIVING
CONDITIONS, AND THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AUTHORITY AND THE
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ITS PROJECTS CONSTITUTE
ESSENTIAL GOVERNMENTAL FUNCTIONS.
