AN ACT concerning

Division of Labor and Industry

FOR the purpose of permitting the Commissioner of Labor
and Industry to accept certain federal grants of
money relating to the Division.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2 of Article 89 - Division of
Labor and Industry, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1969 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it
is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Article 89 — Division of Labor and Industry

2.

It shall be the duty of the [said] Commissioner:

(1)    To promote harmony between industry and labor.

(2)    To collect, systematize and report statistical
details relating to all matters within the jurisdiction
of the Division. Within the Labor and Industry Division
there shall be a Division of Research and Information
which on behalf of and under the Commissioner of Labor
and Industry shall administer this duty. As early in the
calendar year as is reasonably possible the Commissioner
shall prepare and deliver an annual report to the
Governor and the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation
and the members of the General Assembly, if requested,
showing with respect to the preceding calendar year, the
various activities of the Division.

(3)    To encourage, promote and develop the welfare
of wage earners.

(4) TO ACCEPT AND RECEIVE GRANTS OF MONEY RELATING
