AN ACT concerning

Driving Instructors — Certification

FOR the purpose of allowing certain driving instructors
to retain their certifications if they were
certified on or before a certain date; and making
this act an emergency measure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

Section 6—703(c)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 6-703(c) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws

6-703.

(c) Any individual who was certified by the State
Department of Education as a driver education instructor
for a public or a nonpublic school on or before [March 1,
1974] JULY 1, 1974, shall be allowed to retain his
certification and shall be allowed to continue serving in
any school day driver education capacity for which he was
employed during school year 1973—74. Any individual who
was certified by the Motor Vehicle Administration as a
classroom or a laboratory instructor for a licensed
drivers' school on [March 1, 1974] JULY 1, 1974, shall be
allowed to retain his certification.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
is hereby declared to be an emergency measure and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay
vote supported by three—fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
