Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill
1917.

This bill authorizes the creation of a State Debt   in

the amount of five million dollars, the proceeds to     be

used for improvements to the fair ground facilities   of

the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society, Inc.   at
Timonium.

House Bill 1027, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 17, 1976, creates a
five—year program of annual grants to the Maryland State
Fair and Agricultural Society, Inc. for this same
purpose.

Since the purpose of House Bill 1917 is accomplished
by the enactment and signing of House Bill 1027, it is
unnecessary for me to sign House Bill 1917.

House Bill No. 1956 — Charles County School Buses

AN ACT concerning

Charles County — School Buses

FOR the purpose of prohibiting Charles County from owning
more than a certain number of school buses;
repealing a prior enactment of the General Assembly
and adding the material to the law so as to properly
place the material in the Annotated Code; and
generally relating to Charles County school buses
and to proper placement of certain provisions in the
Annotated Code.
