RESOLVED, That the Commission report its findings
and recommendations to, and draft legislation for, the
General Assembly not later than December 31, 1977.

A House Joint Resolution concerning

Continuation of the Existence of the Governor's
Commission to Study Judicial Pensions

FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to continue
the existence of the Governor's Commission to Study
Judicial System Pensions under Resolution No. 8 of
the 1975 General Assembly.

WHEREAS, The General Assembly created the Governor's
Commission to Study the Judicial Pension System under
Resolution No. 8 of the 1975 General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission to Study the
Judicial Pension System held an initial meeting on
October 2, 1975, at which time the Commission first
learned of the existence of a legislative committee,
chaired by Senator James Clark of the Senate Finance
Committee, which legislative committee is studying in
depth numerous aspects of the State employees', teachers'
and State police retirement systems; and

WHEREAS, The legislative committee chaired by
Senator Clark did not complete its assignment prior to
the 1976 General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission to Study the
Judicial Pension System should make its proposals in
light of data to be obtained by the legislative committee
chaired by Senator Clark and its consultant, and should
coincide its proposals, where feasible, with the
fundamental policy that will be adopted by the
legislative committee chaired by Senator Clark; and

WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission to Study the
Judicial Pension System has already submitted four
important but relatively technical adjustments of
omissions or inequities in the present judicial pension
system, and has shown that it can accomplish its
