JOINT RESOLUTIONS

No. 29

and Speaker of the House in their discretion together
decide the size of the committee and appoint members of
the General Assembly to form this committee and request

the Director of Fiscal Services to assign the number of

persons necessary to aid the committee; that the

committee begin meeting on April 15, 1976 and report its
finding to the General Assembly and the Governor; and
that the committee direct its attention to the following;

(1) Amount of casework involved by the
Department;

(2) The number of employees responsible for
the administration of the Department;

(3)    The training of caseworkers;

(4)    The intricacies and formation of the
data processing system;

(5)    The daily communication between
claimants and agency employees, and how such
communication can be improved;

(6)    Any other area that the committee
believes pertinent to the daily operation of the
Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the following: The Honorable Marvin Mandel, Governor;
The Honorable Steny Hamilton Hoyer, President of the
Senate; The Honorable John Hanson Briscoe, Speaker of the
House of Delegates; The Honorable Richard Batterton,
Secretary of the State Department of Human Resources; and
Mr. James Phillips, Executive Director of the Employment
Security Administration.

FOR the purpose of requesting that the Governor cause a
study to be made of Maryland State Police salaries
and benefits, and that a report be made to the
General Assembly.

Maryland, and therefore should consist of the most highly
