compensation to State Policemen; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Governor be requested to cause a study of Maryland
State Police salaries and benefits, especially as
compared with salaries paid by local police departments,
sheriffs' departments, and neighboring states; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a report of this study be presented
to the General Assembly prior to the 1977 legislative
session, and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be
delivered to the Governor.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Statewide College Placement Program

FOR the purpose of requesting the State Department of
Education to develop a Statewide College Placement
Program to assist students in selecting
institutions of higher education in Maryland; and
providing for a director for the program.

High School students face many and varied problems
when attempting to select, apply to, and enroll in
institutions of higher learning in the State of Maryland.
A concentrated effort is needed to provide students with
a centralized availability of information on selection of
schools, the various procedures involved in attending,
and ways to successfully negotiate the higher education
process; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the State Board of Education is requested to create and
develop a Statewide College Placement Program for
Students, and to provide a director of the program with
adequate staffing to deal with identifying and recruiting
students from all State high schools; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the responsibilities of the Program
and its Director will be to: (1) Work with school
counselors to identify students who indicate an interest
in attending an institution of higher education in
Maryland; (2) Establish the procedures for processing
admission by working with the high schools and colleges;
