their normal eight hour daily work day shall receive
overtime compensation which shall be computed by dividing
the daily rate of compensation by the number of hours in
the normal daily work day and multiplying the resulting
quotient by one and one—half times the number of hours
worked in excess of the normal daily work day.
Law-enforcement employees of the Maryland State Police
and the Department of Natural Resources who are called
out to duty during a regularly scheduled off-duty day and
work one or more hours shall receive overtime
compensation which shall be computed by dividing the
daily rate of compensation by the number of hours in the
normal daily work day and multiplying the resulting
quotient by one and one—half times the number of hours
worked during the off—duty day. The maximum yearly
overtime to be paid any one employee is as follows:

Trooper, Trooper First Class and Natural Resources
Officers I, II and III

[$800] $1,200 per [[annum]] YEAR

Corporal and Natural Resources Corporal

[700] [[1,100]] 1,050 per [[annum]] YEAR

Sergeant and Natural Resources Sergeant

[600] [[1,000]] 900 per [[annum]] YEAR

1st Sergeant and Natural Resources Lieutenant

2nd Lieutenant and Natural Resources Captain

[400] [[500]] 600 per [[annum]] YEAR

1st Lieutenant and Natural Resources Major

[300] [[400]] 450 per [[annum]] YEAR

[200] 300 per [[annum]] YEAR

FUNDS, OTHER THAN THOSE DESIGNATED OUT OF THE
GENERAL FUNDS OF THE STATE, WHICH ARE ALLOCATED FROM
FEDERAL, COUNTY, OR MUNICIPAL SOURCES, OR FROM STATE

SPECIAL FUND SOURCES, MAY BE USED TO PAY OVERTIME TO

LAW-ENFORCEMENT EMPLOYEES OF THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE

WHETHER OR NOT THE MAXIMUM LIMITS FOR EACH RANK LISTED

ABOVE HAVE BEEN PAID. A RANK ABOVE CAPTAIN IS NOT

ENTITLED TO RECEIVE OVERTIME IN ANY CASE.

[[In the event]] IF an employee's rank is changed
during the year, he shall be entitled to the higher of
the two applicable yearly overtime maximums for the
duration of the year. [[ANY OVERTIME PAY SHALL BE
APPROVED BY EACH EMPLOYEE'S BARRACKS COMMANDER, AND SHALL
BE SUBJECT TO BUDGETARY LIMITATIONS. ]] Overtime

employees taking basic training at the Police Academy, or
to any law—enforcement employee attending school or
