AN ACT concerning

Uninsured Motor Vehicles - Penalty

FOR the purpose of altering the penalty against motorists
whose vehicles become uninsured during the
registration year.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws

Section 7-102 (d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 7-102(d) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

7-102.

(d) At any time during the registration year, if a
motor vehicle becomes an uninsured motor vehicle, the
Administrator nay assess a penalty of up to [$40] $60 per
uninsured motor vehicle. These charges are in addition
to any other penalties provided against uninsured
motorists under this article. The proceeds of all such
charges shall be paid to the uninsured section of the
Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
