FOR the purpose of altering the terms of office and
salaries for the Board of License Commissioners in
Worcester County; [[removing the requirement of
Senate confirmation for appointments to the Board;]]
clarifying language; and specifying that the salary
increases do not affect the incumbents.

Section 148(d-2) and 155(w)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 148 (d-2) and 155(w) of Article 2B
— Alcoholic Beverages, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
Article 2B — Alcoholic Beverages
148.
(d—2) In Worcester County as of July 1, 1971, the
Governor will appoint three persons who will constitute
the board of license commissioners for the county, who
will hold office for terms of two years each. [The
appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate of
Maryland] THE APPOINTMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION BY
THE SENATE OF MARYLAND. HOWEVER, ON JULY 1, 1977, AT THE
END OF THE PRESENT TERMS, ONE MEMBER SHALL BE APPOINTED
FOR TWO YEARS, ONE MEMBER FOR THREE YEARS AND ONE MEMBER
FOR FOUR YEARS. AT THE EXPIRATION OF THEIR RESPECTIVE
TERMS THEY OR THEIR SUCCESSORS SHALL BE APPOINTED FOR
TERMS OF FOUR YEARS EACH. One of the members of the
board will be designated as its chairman.

(w) In Worcester County, the chairman of the board
of license commissioners will receive as compensation,
the sum of [one thousand five hundred dollars
($1,500.00)] [[$2,200]] $2,000 per year. Each of the
other two members [will] SHALL receive as compensation
the sum of [one thousand two hundred dollars ($1,200.00)
per year] [[$1,800]] $1,600.
