As used in this subtitle the following words have
the meanings indicated.
(b) (1) "The practice of registered nursing"
means the performance of acts requiring substantial
specialized knowledge, judgment and skill based upon the
principles of the biological, physiological, behavioral
and sociological sciences in either:
(i) The assessment, problem
identification, planning and implementation, and
evaluation of the health needs and health care action
capabilities of individuals, families or communities for
purposes of maintaining health, preventing illness,
caring for the ill, injured or infirm and providing
rehabilitation.
(ii) The performance of additional acts
requiring formal education and clinical experience [of]
OR its equivalent and which are recognized jointly by the
medical and nursing professions as proper to be performed
by nurses licensed under this subtitle and which are
authorized by the Board through its rules and
regulations.
(iii) The administration, supervision,
delegation and evaluation of nursing practice.
(iv) The teaching of nursing.

(a) Upon the recommendation of the Secretary of
Health and Mental Hygiene the Governor shall appoint the
Board consisting of 9 members; six of whom shall be
registered nurses and three of whom shall be [licenses]
LICENSED practical nurses. Registered nurse members
shall be appointed in categories as specified:
(i) Three members, one member representing
each of the following education programs: baccalaureate,
associate degree and licensed practical nursing.
(ii) Three members, one representing
administration, and two representing clinical practice.

(c) The six registered nurse Board members shall
have been graduated from an accredited school of nursing
and have the following additional minimal education
preparation:
(1) Baccalaureate educator—Masters in
nursing or [education] EDUCATION;
