(A) IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.
(B) "BOARD" MEANS THE STATE BOARD OF PODIATRY
EXAMINERS.
(C) "PODIATRIC ASSISTANT" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO,
AFTER ADEQUATE TRAINING AND REGISTRATION BY THE BOARD,
MAY ASSIST AND PERFORM DUTIES ASSIGNED TO HIM BY A
LICENSED PODIATRIST.
(D) "Podiatry" [as defined by this subtitle is]
MEANS the diagnosis[,] AND THE surgical, medical, or
mechanical treatment of all ailments of the human foot,
[with] EXCEPT arthrodesis of two or more tarsal bones,
complete tarsal osteotomy, [the] amputation of a toe or
toes, and [the use] ADMINISTRATION of an anesthetic,
other than local[ , prohibited].

(A) To provide a fund in order to carry out and
enforce the provisions of this subtitle, the Board [of
Podiatry Examiners] WITH APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE, shall establish a fee for
examinations, reexaminations and certificates [with the
approval of the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene]
and [shall establish] an annual license fee [with the
approval of the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene]
payable on or before [the first day of] January 1 of each
year.
(B) (1) DURING THE 30 DAYS IMMEDIATELY AFTER
JANUARY 1, THERE IS A GRACE PERIOD DURING WHICH A
PODIATRIST MAY RENEW HIS LICENSE ON PAYMENT OF THE ANNUAL
LICENSE FEE AND A LATE FEE ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD.
(2) THE BOARD SHALL SUSPEND ANY LICENSE NOT
