AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Identification Numbers

FOR the purpose of including a transmission number and
federal [[safety standard number]] vehicle

certification label as an identification number
placed on a vehicle or engine by certain persons and
authorities.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws

Section 4-107(f)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 4-107(f) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

4-107.

(f) As used in this section:

1.     "Identification number" includes an
identifying number, serial number, TRANSMISSION NUMBER,

FEDERAL [[SAFETY STANDARD DECAL]] VEHICLE CERTIFICATION

LABEL, engine number or other distinguishing number or
mark, placed on a vehicle or engine by its manufacturer
or by authority of the Department or in accordance with
the laws of THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OR another state or
country;

2.     "Remove" includes deface, cover and
destroy;

3.    "Falsify" includes alter and forge.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
