64 Be it Remembered that on the day and year first within mentioned came Charles Carroll of Carlton Esquire within mentioned and acknowledged the within Indenture to be his free and voluntary Act and Deed and the Tract parcel or pieces of Land within mentioned together with its Appurtenances to be the right Title and Estate of the said Benjamin Philip John and Leonard their heirs and Assigns for ever According to the true intent and meaning of the said Deed or Instrument of writing Peter Shepherd Henry Wilson Memorandum on the tenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty three Charles Carroll of Carlton party to the within Deed entered upon the Land and premisses in the said Deed mentioned and described and then mentioned Benjamin Philip John and Leonard their heirs and Assigns for ever according to the form and Effect of the within Deed in presence of us whose names are hereto subscribed J Griest Geo Welch John Martin Mark Alexander Baltimore County fs March 10.th 1783 Then came before me one of the Justice of the peace for said County J Grist Geo Welch Jn.o Martin & Mark Alexander and made Oath on the holy Evangils of Almighty God that they were respectively & personally present and did see Charles Carroll of Carlton deliver peaceable possession Livery & Seisin of the Lands and premisses within mentioned unto John Philip & Leonard the parties to the within Deed Sworn before me Recorded July 15.th 1783 Peter Shepherd Ex.d 14¼ This Indenture made this fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Between Edward Nicholls of Baltimore County Gentleman of the one part and Bernard Oneill and William Deakins of the same place Merchants of the other part Whereas the aforesaid Edward Nicholls is justly and bona fide indebted to the aforesaid Oneill and Deakins in the quantity of thirty three thousand four hundred pounds of merchantable fresh inspected Crop Tobacco (clear of Cask) with interest thereon from the first day of July instant as by his the said Edward Nicholls's Bond bearing equal Date herewith will fully appear and the said Edward Nicholls to secure the punctual payment of the said Tobacco with Interest hath agreed to execute these presents Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Edward Nicholls in Consideration of the above recited premises and to secure the payment of the said Debt hath granted bargained sold and delivered possession and by these presents Doth grant bargain sell and deliver possession to the said Oneill and Deakins of the following Negro Slaves to wit Polly about the Age of twenty two years or thereabouts with her female child Bet of the age of one year Grace about the age of Eleven years or thereabouts and Rachel about the age of forty years or thereabouts together with all his the said Edward Nicholls Right title and Interest of in and to the same also the said Edward Nicholls doth assign and transfer to the said Oneill and Deakins by these presents a certain Promissory Note bearing |
