447) said John Dorsey has any right title claim or Interest in or to adjoining the said Lands To have and to hold the said Lands with their appurtenances to the said Luther Martin his heirs and assigns forever and the aforesaid John Dorsey for himself his heirs Executors Administrators & Assigns doth covenant to and with the said Luther Martin his heirs and assigns that he the said John Dorsey and his heirs the Lands aforesaid will for ever to the said Luther Martin his heirs and assigns warrant and defend against the said John Dorsey his heirs or assigns or any claiming by from or under him or them In Witness whereof the said John Dorsey hath hereunto sett his hand & affixed his seale the day and year above written Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of Jn.o Dorsey (seal) Joseph Ashmead Stephen West On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus endorsed Viz.t Maryland Ss.t November 12.th 1785 then came John Dorsey before me one of the Judges of the General Court for the State of Maryland and acknowledged the within Indenture to be his Act and Deed & the Land & premisses within mentioned to be the right Title and Estate of the within Luther Martin his heirs & assigns for ever dld A C Hanson 4¼ sides Recorded this 12.th day of Nov.r 1785 Examd & Deliv.d This Indenture made this fifth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and eighty five Between Luther Martin Esquire Attorney General of the one part and Jeremiah Townley Chase of the City of Annapolis of the other part Whereas the said Jeremiah Townly Chase has become security for the said Luther Martin in a Bond given to the Baltimore Company for the sum of Four thousand one hundred and forty seven Pounds eleven shillings Current Money of Maryland dated on or about the thirteenth day of September Seventeen hundred and eighty five for one hundred and seventy three acres and three Quarters of an Acre of Land and twenty perches being part of Philipsburg and part of Gorsuch lying in Baltimore County purchased of the said Baltimore Company by the said Luther Martin on the fifth day of September in the year aforesaid Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Luther Martin for and in consideration of five shillings Current Money in hand paid by the said Jeremiah Townley Chase the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well as to indemnify and save harmless the said Jeremiah Townley Chase for becoming security as aforesaid hath granted (bargained) |
