       and acknowledged the within Deed according to Act of Assembly and at the same
       time appeared before me Dorothy Laypold Wife of the said John Laypold and being
       by me Privately Examined apart and out of the Presence and hearing of her
       Husband acknowledged her Right of Dower of the Land aforesaid and that
       she did the same freely and volentarily without and Cumpultion or Threats
       from her Husband or fear of his Displeasure  In testimony Whereof I have
       hereto Set my hand the day and year aforesaid

          This Indenture made this 20.th Day of December one thousand Seven hundred
       and Eighty one between John Birkhead and Ann his Wife of Ann Arundel County and
       State of Maryland of the one Part and Richard Chew of the same County and State
       aforesaid of the other Part  Witnesseth that the said John Birkhead and Ann his Wife
       for and in consideration of the Sum of six hundred Eighteen Pounds three shillings &
       Nine Pence to them in hand paid or secured to be Paid before the Ensealing and
       Deliverer of these presents by the said Richard Chew the receipt whereof the do hereby
       acknowledge and thereof and therefrom Acquit Exonerate and Discharge the said
       Richard Chew his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns have Granted
       Bargained Sold Aliened Enfeoffed confirmed and by these presents they the said
       John Birkhead and Ann his Wife do grant Bargain Sell alien Enfeoff and confirm
       unto him the said Richard Chew his Heirs and Assigns part of a Tract or Parcel of
       Land Called wells ^and^ little wells surveyed for the said John Birkhead and left him by
       his Father John Birkhead  Beginning at a post marked with Six notches
       Standing at the West Corner of the said Richard Chew Orchard and Running
       South seventy two Degrees West one hundred and forty eight Perches then South ^Ninety^ Six
       Perches then South Eighty six degrees East one hundred and Fifty ^nine^ Perches then
       North four Degrees West one hundred and fifty Perches to the beginning
       Containing and now Laid Out for one hundred and Seventeen and three quarters
       Acres Lying and being in Ann Arundel County together with the Revertion and
