261 Of him the said Alexander Lawson therein or thereto To have and To hold the said Part of a Tract or parcel of Land and Premisses unto him the said William Gibson his Heirs and Assigns for ever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said William Gibson his Heirs Alexander Lawson for himself and his Heirs Doth Covenant Promise Grant and agree to and with the said William Gibson his heirs and Assigns that he the said Alexander Lawson and his heirs the above Bargained and sold Land and Premisses unto him the said William Gibson his Heirs and Assigns from and against him the said Alexander Lawson and his Heirs shall and will Warrant and for ever Defend by these presents as also from and against all persons claiming or to claim any thing therein or thereto by from or under him or them In Witness whereof the said Alexander Lawson hath hereto set his hand and Seal the Day and year first above Written Signed Sealed and Delivered Alexand.r Lawson (Seal) In Presence of And Buchanan Peter Shepherd On the back of the aforegoing Deed was Endorsed as follows to wit On the Day of the date of the Within Received from the within named William Gibson the sum of one hundred and forty seven Pounds Current Money the Consideration within Mentioned to be by him paid to me Witness Alexand.r Lawson And Buchanan Baltimore County to wit on the twenty third Day of October 1784 before the Subscribers two Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid came Alexander Lawson party to the within Indenture or Instrument of Writing and Acknowledged the same as and for his Act and Deed according to the true Intent and meaning thereof and the Land and Premisses herein Mentioned or Intended to be Bargained and sold to be the Right and Estate of the within named William Gibson his Heirs and Assigns forever at the same time Also came Elizabeth wife of the said Alexander Lawson who being privately examined apart from and out of the hearing of her said Husband Acknowledged all her right and title of Dower to the within Bargained and sold Land and Premisses to be ^the^ right and Estate of the within named William Gibson his Heirs and Assigns for ever and Declared that she made this Acknowledgement of her own free and Voluntary will and accord without being induced thereto by fear or threats of her said Husband or through fear of his Displeasure And Buchanan Recorded the 26.th of October 1784 Peter Shepherd |
