196 Ex.d Know all men by these presents that we Charles Clagett John Read Magruder & John Smith Brooks of Prince Georges County are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and Just quantity of Forty thousands Pounds of Tobacco to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators in the whole and for the Whole Jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this Twenty ninth day of October in the year Seventeen hundred and Eighty three The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Charles Clagett do diligently and Carefully view and Examine all Tobacco brought to upper Marlbrough Warehouse and all other Tobacco he shall be called upon to View and Inspect and that he will not Receive any Tobacco that is not in his Judgment sound well conditioned merchantable and Clear of Trash nor receive pass or stamp any Tobacco or Hogshead of Tobacco prohibited ay an Act of Assembly Entitled an Act for the regulation of the staple of Tobacco and that he will receive pass and stamp all Tobacco that is sound well conditioned merchantable and Clear of Trash and in all things well and faithfully discharge his duty in the Office of an Inspector according to the directions of the said Act without fear favour affection Malice or Partiallity and that he will in all things well and faithfully execute and performe the several duties required of him by the said Act then the above obligation to be Void else to remain and be in full force and Virtue in Law Ch.s Clagett (Seal) Signed Sealed and Delivered John Read Magruder (Seal) in the presence of John Smith Brooks (Seal) Hugh Lyon At the foot of the aforegoing bond was thus written Vizt October 29.th 1783 Then came Hugh Lyon and made Oath that he was present when when the within named Charles Clagett Jn.o Read Magruder & John Smith Brooks signed Sealed and Delivered the within Bond Ew.d Sprigg Recorded 20.th March 1784 Ex.d Know all men by these presents that we Benj.m Wailes & Leonard Waring of Prince Georges County Gentlemen are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full & Just quantity of Forty Thousand pounds of Crop Tob.o to be paid unto the aforesaid state to the which payment well & truly to be made & done we bind ourselves & every of us our & every of our heirs Executors & Administrators in the whole & for the whole Jointly & severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals & Dated this 13 day of September in the year Seventeen Hundred and Eighty Three The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above Bound Benjamin Wailes do well and faithfully Execute the Office of an Inspector at Magruders Warehouse so far forth as relates to an Act of the General Assembly Entitled an act for the Regulation of the staple of Tobacco then the above obligation to be void & of none effect otherwise to stand Remain & be in full force & Virtue in Law B Wailes (Seal) Signed Sealed & Delivered Leonard Waring (Seal) in the presence of William Frazier Theodore Hodgkin |
