714 bearing date the Seventeenth day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy three and made to John Gibson and M.r Robert Barclay of London Merch.t now bound to North America to and for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and that thereupon he this Deponent together with William Guest did Set and Subscribe their names as Witnesses to the Execution of the said Letter of Attorney as thereby do and may appear Sworn the 18.th day of February 1773 Cha.ls Stone house Before me James Townshend Mayor By this Publick Instrument of Procuration or Letter of Attorney Be it Known that on the Seventeenth day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy three Before me Abraham Ogier Notary Publick dwelling in London duly admitted and Sworn and in the Presence of the Witnesses hereafter named personally appeared Mess.rs David Barclay and John Barclay of London Merchants and Co-partners who hereby ratifying and Confirming whatever M.r John Gibson of Philadelphia Merchant had done by virtue of the Powers granted to him by the said David Barclay and John Barclay declared to have made ordained and Constituted and by these presents do make ordain and constitute the said John Gibson and M.r Robert Barclay of London Merchant now bound to North America their true and Lawful Attornies giving and hereby Granting unto their said Attornies Jointly and Severally full power and Lawful Athority for them the sid Constituents in their Names and their Behalfs to take upon themselves or himself the Management and Conduct of their Affairs Concerns and dealings in North America Aforesaid Also to Ask demand sue for and by all Lawful ways and means whatsoever recover and receive of and from all and every person and persons whom it shall or may Concern in North America aforesaid all such Sum or Sums of Money Goods Wares Merchandizes Debts and Effects whatsoever as now is or are or shall or may hereafter be in his or their Hands Custody or Possession Due Owing payable or belonging unto them the said Constituents whether by Bond Note Bill Book Debt account Consignment or for or by what other reason or means soever nothing Excepted or reserved and to that and with all and every person and Persons whom it shall or may Concern to Account and to view State Settle and adjust all accounts and the Ballances thereof to receive upon Recovery and receipt in the Premisses to give one or more Acquittances or ^other^ Sufficient discharges in due form of Law also if need be to appear before all Judges and Justices in any Court or Courts there to do say Pursue implead Arrest Attach and Prosecute as Occasion shall be or require also to Compound Conclude and agree by Arbitration or otherwise as their said Attornies shall think fit and Generally in the Premises to do perform and Execute all and whatsoever shall be requisite & Necessary in as full and Ample Manner to all intents Constructions and Purposes as they the said Constituents might or Could do if they were personally present also with power of substitution and Revocation they the said Constituents hereby Promiseing to ratify confirm and hold for good and valid all and whatsoever their said Attornies Jointly or severally as aforesaid or his or their Substitute or Substitutes shall Lawfully do or cause to be done in or about the Premisses by Virtue hereof Thus done and Passed in London aforesaid in the Presence of Charles Stone house and William Guest Witnesses David Barclay (seal) Sealed and Delivered J Barclay (seal) (being first duly Stamped) in the Presence of In præmissorum fidum Cha.ls Stone house (LS) W.m Guest Abra.s Ogier Not.s Pub.s 1773 |
