700 Hearing of her said Husband did acknowledge and declare the within Instrument to be her Act and Deed & the within bargained & released premisses to be the Right & Estate of the within named James Tilghman for the Uses & Purposes & according to the true Intent & Meaning of the within Deed & that she did sign seal & deliver the same & made this Acknowledgment willingly & freely & without being induced thereto by Fear or Threats of or ill Usage by her said Husband or Fear of his Displeasure 11 Sides Tho.s Brooke Hodgkin Recorded 25.th July 1774 W.m Steuart x.d N.o 3 This Indenture made this thirteenth Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy four Between James Tilghman of the City if Annapolis Gentleman of the one part and James Williams and Elizabeth his Wife of the other part both of the same place Witnesseth that the same James Tilghman for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Sterling Money to him in Hand paid by the same James Williams & Elizabeth his Wife respectively at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents Doth grant bargain & sell unto the same James Williams and Elizabeth his Wife their Executors Administrators and Assigns an undivided half Part or Moiety of all that one Acre of Land scituate lying & being in the City of Annapolis aforesaid bounded as follows that is to say Beginning at a Locust Post on the North East Side of Scotts Street and running thence North West six perches and three Qua^r^ters of a Perch to a Locust Post lately erected thence North forty one Degrees and one Quarter East twenty two perches to severn River lying down till it intersect a North forty two and a half Degrees East Course from Scotts Street the place of Beginning & which said Acre of Ground is that Lott or Portion of Ground in the said City which James Reith deseased resided on at the Time of his Death together with all & singular the Houses Buildings Improvements Liberties Priviledges Advantages and Appurtenances whatsoever to the to the same belonging or in any Wise appertaining To have & to hold an undivided half Part or Moiety of the Acre or Lott or Portion of Ground aforesaid and all and singular the premisses with the Appurtenances unto the same James Williams & Elizabeth his Wife their Executors Administrators and Assigns for and during and unto the full End and Term of one whole year commencing from the Day next before the Day of the Date of these presents yielding and paying therefore unto the said James Tilghman the Rent of ^one^ pepper Corn only at the Expiration of the said Term if the same (shall) |
