665 Be it remembered that on the twenty first Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seventeen hundred and seventy four came before me the Subscriber one of the Judges of the Provincial Court the within Fielder Gaunt Edward Gaunt & Bartholomew Booth and severall and respectively acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their respective Act & Deed to and for the Uses Intents and Purposes therein specified contained & expressed Dan of S.t Tho.s Jenifer Fred.k County fs.t Be it remembered that on the twenty fifth Day of April in the Year of our Lord seventeen hundred and seventy four came before us the Subscribers two of the Lord Proprietors Justices the within William Deakins Jun.r Thomas Johns & Adam Stewart & severally & respectively acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their respective Act & Deed to and for the Uses Intents & Purposes therein specified contained & expressed 30½ sides Charles Jones Robert Peters Recorded 25.th April 1774 Ex.d This Indenture made this twentieth Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four Between Charles Carroll of the City of Annapolis in the Province of Maryland Barrister of the one Part and Edward Stepenson of Pipe Creek in Frederick County in the Province aforesaid Farmer of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Charles Carroll for and in Consideration of the sum of ninety five Pounds Current Money of the Province aforesaid to him in hand paid by the said Edward Stevenson the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth hereby entirely acquit release and discharge the said Edward Stevenson his Heirs Executors and Administrators for ever hath bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and by these Presents doth bargain sell alien enfeof and confirm unto him the said Edward Stevenson his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that Tract or Parcel of Land called Addition to Strawberry Plains lying and being in Frederick County aforesaid Beginning at a marked Stone where stood the first Tree of Strawberry Plains taken up for Enoch Conley Running thence South thirty two Degrees West forty Perches then South one hundred and forty eight Perches then West twenty Perches then North eighty Perches then North sixty Degrees West fifty Perches then North thirty one Degrees East one hundred and twenty six Perches then South thirty Perches then by a straight Line to the Begining containing and laid out for forty Acres of Land more or less Together with all and singular the Buildings Improvements and Appurtenances thereon or thereto in any Wise belonging or appertaining To have and to hold unto him the said Edward Stevenson his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to the only proper Use and Behoof of him the said (Edward) |
