650 Received of Jesse Cheney the Sum of seven Pence half Penny Sterling for the Alienation Fine due on the within Land to the Lord Proprietor by Virtue of a Commission from Daniel of S.t Thomas Jenifer Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General J Brice On the 28.th Day of March Seventeen hundred and seventy four came before me the Subscriber on of the Lord Proprietary's Justices of the Provincial Court the within named 6 Sides Osborn Beck and acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their Act and Deed and the Land and premisses therein mentioned to be the Right Title and Estate of the within named Jesse Cheney and his Assigns forever according to the true Intent and Meaning thereof before Recorded 11.th April 1774 Philip Thomas Lee This Indenture made this eleventh Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four Between John Cowman of Ann Arundel County in the Province of Maryland Planter of the one Part and William Murdock of Prince Georges County in the Province of Maryland Merchant of the other Part Whereas the said John Cowman hath passed his Bond bearing Date the Tenth Day of July in the Year of our Lord seventeen hundred and sixty nine conditioned to make over or cause to be made over unto him the said William Murdock his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns all his (the said John Cowman's) Right Title Claim and Interest of in to a part or parcell of a Tract of Land lying in Frederick County called catch as Catch can he that gets the Land is the best Man lying and being in Frederick County and Province aforesaid Beginning at the End of the first Line of the above named Tract running thence North thirty three Degrees West sixty Perches North twenty five Degrees West eighty perches North fifty eight Degrees West thirty six Perches North twenty five Degrees East forty perches North forty one Degrees West Ninety four Perches South fifty one Degrees West thirty eight Perches South twenty five Degrees West thirty perches South fifty nine Degrees East sixteen Perches South ten Degrees West three hundred and four perches East one hundred and eight Perches South twenty five Degrees East eighty perches South eighty Degrees East twenty seven perches then by a streight Line to the Beginning containing three hundred and forty Acres of Land by a good and sufficient Deed of Conveyance as he or his Attorney learned in the Law shall advise or require Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Cowman for and in Consideration of the Sum of two hundred and forty two Pounds Ten Shillings Current Money to him in Hand ^being^ paid by the said William Murdock before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof the said John Cowman doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth acquit and discharge the said William (Murdock) |
