608 On the sixteenth Day of December 1773 came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Provincial Justices the within named Samuel Johnson and acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Land and Premisses therein mentioned with the Appurtenances to be the Right and Estate of the within named Joseph Selby his Heirs and Assigns for ever 5 sides Dan of S Tho.s Jenifer On the 21.st Day of March 1774 came also before me Candey Johnson the Wife of the aforesaid Samuel Johnson and she being privately examined by me apart from and out of the Hearing of her said Husband did release and relinquish all her Right Title & ^and^ Interest of Dower of in and to the said Lands with their Appurtenances and she also acknowledged and declared that she did the same voluntarily and freely without being induced thereto by Fears or Threats of ill Usage from her said Husband or through Fear of his Displeasure Before Recorded 14.th February 1774 Dan of S Tho.s Jenifer Ex.d This Indenture made the twentieth Day of April in the thirteenth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c And in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy three Between Thomas Bladen of the Parish of Saint George Hannover Square in the County of Middx Esquire and Barbara his Wife of the one Part and Daniel Dulany of Annapolis in the Province of Maryland in North America Esquire of the other Part Whereas the said Thomas Bladen is and now stands well and truly seized in Fee Simple of a considerable Estate situate lying and being in Baltimore County in Maryland aforesaid and being minded and desirous to sell and dispose of the same but in as much as he The said Thomas Bladen lives and resides in great Britain whereby Inconveniencies and Delays might arise in treating with and making a Title to such Person or Persons who might be minded to become a Purchaser or Purchasers thereof he the said Thomas Bladen hath for the more easy making ^and^ all accelerating such Sale and Conveying Assuring and making such good Title consented and agreed to execute these Presents to the said Daniel Dulany to and for the Intents and Purposes aforesaid Now this Indenture Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain by the said Daniel Dulany to the said Thomas Bladen in Hand well and truly paid at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof he the said Thomas Bladen doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and of and from every Part thereof Doth acquit release and discharge the said Thomas Bladen his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever by these Presents They the said Thomas Bladen and Barbara his Wife Have and each of them Hath granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed And by these Presents Do and each of them Doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Daniel Dulany his Heirs and Assigns ll that Tract or Parcel of Land and Premisses commonly called or known by the Name or Description of Bletham a Cambria containing by an accurate Survey lately made Three thousand seven hundred and forty two Acres or thereabouts |
