       Fear or Treats or Dread of incurring his Displeasure

10¼ sides   for an Alienation Fine due to Lord Baltimore on the within Land by Virtue of

       Know all men by these Presents That I Joseph Gillis Merchant on the Island of Madeira
       have made, ordained, constituted, and appointed, and do by these Presents, make, ordain,
       constitute & appoint ^& in my Place & Stead put & repute^ M.r John Gilliss of Maryland my true and lawful Attorney for me in my
       Name and for my Uses to ask, demand, levy, sue, seize, sequester, recover, and receive,
       all such Sum and Sums of Money, Debts, Goods, Lands, Wares, Stock, Slaves, Dues Accompts
       and other whatsoever Demands which are or shall be due, owing, payable and belonging
       to me or detained from me by any manner of Way or Means whatsoever in the whole Province of
       Maryland or elsewhere as also to sell and dispose of at Public or private Vendue (as may appear
       to him my said Attorney most convenient for me) all and every part of the above mentioned vendible
       particulars Giving and granting unto my said Attorney by these Presents my full and entire
       Power and Authority in and about the Premises to have use and take all lawful Ways and Means
       in my Name for the Recovery and Disposal thereof  And upon the receipt and Public or private
       Disposal or Sale of any such debts, Dues, Sum or Sums of Money or any other Article of the abovementioned
       particulars Acquitances public Instruments or any other sufficient Discharges for me
       and in my Name to make seal or receive And generally all and every Act of Acts thing or things
       Device or Devices in the Law whatsoever needful & necessary to be done in and about the premises
       for the recovery and Public or private disposal or sale of either of the aforementioned particulars
       for me and in my Name to do execute and perform as fully largely and amply to all Intents &
