541 Baltimore County Twentyeth day of July 1773 came before us the subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the peace for the County af.d the within named William Buchanan and did acknowledge the within and above Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and the several tracts or parcels of Land or part of tracts or parcels of Land therein mentioned to be conveyed to be the Estate right Title & Interest of him the said Legh Master his heirs and assigns and at the same time came Esther the wife of him the said William Buchanan and being by us privately examined out of the hearing of her Husband did declare that she acknowledged the above and within Instrument of writing willingly and freely to be an effectual relinquishment and Barr of her Dower in the said Tracts or parcels of Land or parts of tracts or parcels of Land therein mentioned to be conveyed to the said Legh Master his Heirs and Assigns and that she did the same without being induced thereto by fear or threats of or ill usage by Her Husband or fear of his Displeasure John Moale W.m Spear Baltimore County to wit I hereby Certify that John Moale and William Spear Gentlemen before whom the above acknowledgement was made and who have thereto subscribed their Names (LS) were at the day of the Date thereof and still are two of the Right Honourable the Lord proprietary of Maryland his Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid and to all Certificates by them given as such due faith and Credit is and ought to be given as well in Courts of Justice as thereout In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Public seal of the County aforesaid this twentieth day of July seventeen hundred and seventy three A Lawson Clk Balt C.o C.t Received of M.r Legh Master the sum of twelve pounds and seven pence Sterling for an alienation fine due to Lord Proprietary for the within 30 Sides Lands by Virtue of a Commission from Dan.l of Saint Tho.s Jenifer Esq.r the said Lordships Agent and receiver General John Brice Recorded July y.e 22.d 1773 N B see page 551 Ogle to Ogle should follow here |
