263. On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus endorsed to wit Received the twelfth Day of Nov.r 1771 of Richard Warfield the Sum of five Shillings Sterling Money of Great Britain it being the Consideration expressed for the within Deed Benj Talbott Test W.m Faris Sarah Talbott On the twelfth Day of November 1771 came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provencial Court the with named Benj Talbott who acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act & Deed & the Lands & Premises therein mentioned to be the Right & Estate of the within named Richard Warfield his Heirs & Assigns for ever according to the true Meaning of the within Deed & the Act of Assembly in that Case made & provided At the same Time came Sarah the 7½ Sides Wife of the said Benj.a & she being privately examined out of the Hearing of her said Husband declareth that she releaseth her Right of Dower to the Land & Premisses within mentioned & she makes the same acknowledgment willingly & freely without being inticed thereto by Fears or Threats or ill Usage of her said Husband or for Fear of his Displeasure according to the Act of Assembly before mentioned Dan of S.t Tho.s Jenifer Recorded 12th Nov.r 1771 X.d This Indenture made the twenty eighth Day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy one Between Edward Stevenson of Frederick County Planter of the one Part & Charles Carroll of the City of Annapolis Esquire of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Edward Stevenson for & in Consideration of the Sum of six hundred & thirteen Pounds seven Shillings & four Pence Sterling Money to him in Hand paid by the said Charles Carroll at or before the Sealing & Delivery of these Presents the Receit whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & thereof & therefrom & of & from every Part & Parcel thereof doth release acquit & discharge the said Charles Carroll his Heirs Executors Administrators & Assigns & every of them by these Presents Hath given granted bargained sold aliened released enfeoffed & confirmed And by these Presents Doth give grant bargain sell alien enfeoff & confirm unto him the said Charles Carroll his Heirs & assigns for ever All that Tract or Parcel of Land lying & being in Frederick County aforesaid called the Resurvey on Part of Cornwell containing nine hundred & sixty two Acres of Land more or less And also all that other Tract or Parcel of Land lying & being in the same County called Ridgeway's Farm containing one hundred & twenty two Acres more or less Together with all Houses Buildings Gardens Orchards Woods Under Woods Water Water Courses Ways Easements Priviledges Profits Advantages and Appurtenances whatsoever on the same two Tracts or Parcels of Land or either of them being to (the) |
