246 in the Province of Maryland or elsewhere in the British Dominion in America All such Sums of Money Debts Goods Effects Merchandizes Claims and Demands whatever which now are or shall be hereafter due and owing unto us and to use and take all lawful Ways and Means in our Names or in the Name of the said John Brown and Company for procuring the Recovery Receipt or Satisfaction thereof and to grant Releases Acquittances or other Discharges for the same And to do all other lawful Acts and Things whatsoever concerning the Premises as fully and in our Respect as we or either of us might or could do ourselves if personally present with Power to him the said Alexander Hamilton to substitute one or more Attornies under him for the Purposes aforesaid and at his Pleasure to revoke the same hereby ratifying and confirming all and whatsoever our said Attorney or his Substitutes shall lawfully do or cause to be done in the Premises In Witness whereof we have hereunto sett and affixed our Hands and Seals at Glasgow aforesaid this fifth Day of June in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Signed sealed and delivered James Scott Jun.r (Seal) (being first duly stampt) In Presence of us John Brown Youngest (Seal) James Brown James Graham Notary Public To all to whom these Presents shall come I John Tillock Esquire one of the present Magistrates of the City of Glasgow in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland and one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said City and Liberties thereof Do hereby certify and Attest that upon the Day of the Date of these Presents, personally came and appeared before me, James Brown of the said City of Glasgow Merchant and ^James^ Graham also of the said City, Notary Public, being Persons well known and worthy of good Credit, who upon their grate and solemn Oath, do severally depose and say that they were present and did see the above named James Scott Junior and John Brown Youngest sign seal and as their proper Act and Deed deliver the above Power of Attorney And that the Names James Scott Jun.r and John Brown Youngest thereto sett as the Parties executing and the Names James Brown and James Graham thereto sett as witnesses are of the Proper and respective Hands writing of the said James Scott Jun.r John Brown youngest and of these Deponents James Brown In Faith and Testimony whereof James Graham L.S. I the said John Tillock Esquire have subscribed these Presents and caused the common Seal of the said City to be hereunto affixed Dated in Glasgow aforsaid this fifth Day of June in the Year one thousand seven hundred and seventy one John Tillock Recorded the 23.d Day of September 1771 |
