245 To all to whom these Presents shall come I Colin Dunlop Esquire Lord Provost and Chief Magistrate of the City of Glasgow in North Britain In Pursuance of an Act of Parliament made and passed in the fifth Year of the Reign of his late Majesty King George the second intitled an Act for the more easy Recovery of Debts in his Majesty's Plantations & Colonies in America Do hereby certify that on the Day of the Date of these Presents John Rowand and John Luke both of the City of Glasgow aforesaid Merchants (being both Persons well known and worth of good Credit) personally came and appeared before me and by solemn oath which they then severally took before me upon the holy Evangelists of Almighty God they did solemnly and sincerely declare, testify and depose that the the said deponents were present & did see the within named Robert Dreghorn, Matthew Orr, James Simson, James Brown & James Corbett sign, seal and execute as their proper Act and Deed the Instrument of Writing or Power of Attorney within written & that the Names Robert Dreghorn, Matthew Orr, James Simson, James Brown & James Corbett Jun.r thereunto set as the Parties executing are of the proper Hand Writings of the said Robert Dreghorn Matthew Orr, James Simson James Brown and James Corbett respectively and that the Names John Rowand and John Luke thereunto set as the subscribing witnesses are of the proper Hand Writing of these Deponents respectively L.S. In Faith & Testimony whereof I the said Lord Provost & the said Deponents have hereunto set our Hands and I have also caused the common Seal of the said City of Glasgow to be hereto put & affixed at Glasgow aforesaid the ninth Day of May in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Colin Dunlop Veritatem præmissorum John Rowand Attestor John Buchanan Jun.r Notary Publick John Luke Recorded the 23.d Day of September 1771 X.d To all to whom these Presents shall come Know You that We James Scott Junior and John Brown youngest Merchants in Glasgow in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, Partners in Trade under the Firm and Title of John Brown & Company Merchants there for sundry good Causes us hereunto moving Have made ordained constituted and appointed And by these Presents Do make ordain constitute and appoint M.r Alexander Hamilton at Piscataway Potomack River in the Province of Maryland Merchant to be our true & lawful Attorney for us & in our Names & for our own proper Use and Behoof, to ask, demand, sue for, recover and receive of and from all & every person & persons (in) |
