241. the Firm and Title of Simson, Baird and Company for certain valuable Considerations Have made ordained authorized constituted and appointed and by these Presents Do make ordain authorize constitute and appoint Alexander Hamilton Merchant in Piscataway in the Province of Maryland our and each of our true certain lawful attorney for us and in our Names, But to the sole Use and Benefit of the said James Brown & Company, to ask, demand, levy, sue for, recover and receive of and from all & every Person and Persons whatsoever in the said Province of Maryland or in the Colony of Virginia elsewhere whom it doth or shall concern and their Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns and every of them All and every such Sum and Sums of Money Debts Dues Demands Books Goods Wares Merchandize Estates Chattles and other Subjects & Effects whatsoever which now are or hereafter shall be or become due or indebted owing payable or belonging unto us or either of us for or upon Account of our Store and trading Business at Piscataway aforesaid known by the Name and Title of the [S] Cargo or Store formerly under the Management of the said James Brown And for or upon Account of our fourth Share or Part of the aforesaid Rum Trade and Store as Partners with Peter Campbell and Company any Manner of way whatsoever nothing excepted or reserved, and whether owing by Bonds, Bills, Notes, Decrees, or Judgments at Law, Bargains, Sales, Mortgages, Accounts or otherways and to adjust and settle the same And to have, use, prosecute and take all lawful Ways and Means whatsoever for the Recovery thereof or any Part of the same or any Part thereof or any Part of the same and Acquittances Receipts and other sufficient Discharges, Assignments of or for the same or any Part thereof for us and in our Name to make, seal, duly execute and deliver and to compound, compromise, conclude and agree for the same or any Part thereof by submitting or referring to Arbitration or otherways as our said Attorney shall think most expedient and for us to appear and our Persons to represent in all or any Court or Courts of Judicatory or other Places in Virginia or Maryland aforesaid as Plaintiffs Defendants or Appellants in all and every Action or Actions and Prosecutions at Law to be therein brought sued or prosecuted for or concerning the Premises or any Part thereof and generally to do execute perform and transact all and every other Acts Deeds Matters or Things whatsoever in and concerning the Premises which (our) |
