233 and gave his Bond or Obligation in writing to make over and convey the same to him the said John Rhodes and Geo Rhodes their Heirs Executors Adm.rs or Assigns which hath never yet been done and Whereas my said Father by his last will and Testament in writing bearing date on or about the tenth Day of May seventeen hundred and sixty four did among other Devises give and bequeath sundry Lots & Portions of Ground and Improvements in George Town in Frederick County unto his grand Children George Forbes Hamilton, Charles Evans Hamilton, Horatio Belt, Joshua Belt, to them and their Heirs for ever, also the Sum of fifty Pounds Current Money to Dryden Belt (in Lieu of a Lott N.o 13 bequeathed to me at my Option) all which said Devisees are at present in their Minority And Whereas my said Father in his Lifetime was largely indebted to sundry Persons in Europe and in Maryland for divers Sums of Money and for the Payment whereof no adequate Provision was made in his will to the great Trouble, Hindrance and Loss of his said Credittors And Whereas I am now going to Brittain and am willing and desirous to do every thing in my Power that my late Father's Creditors & others may obtain Justice as far as they are entitled thereto And Whereas I am informed that it may be necessary for me as Heir at Law to be made a Party and to appear to the Suits that may be commenced by my late Father's Creditors against the several Devisees before mentioned & also to convey or join in the Conveyance of any of the Lands sold by my said Father in his Lifetime & not conveyed by him, or to join in the Conveyance or Release of any of the Lands he was any ways entitled to, or by Descent came to me as Heir at Law for which & other Purposes I the said John Gordon do by these Presents ordain, authorize, constitute and appoint my trusty and loving Friend Stephen West of Upper Marlbro in Prince Georges County Merchant his Heirs Executors & Adm.rs my true & lawful Attorney & Attornies irrevocable for me & in my Name as the Proper Son and Heir at Law of my late Father to make over & convey unto the said John Rhodes and George Rhodes of Frederick County Farmers the said two Tracts of Land sold to them by my said Father in his Lifetime according to the Tenor of my said Father's Bond to them for that Purpose in such legal & ample Manner as shall be reasonably demanded by them Also for my said attorney for me & in my Name & in my Stead to be & appear gratis or otherwise as Occasions may require before all Courts, Judges (or) |
