206 Maryland to wit, On the thirty first Day of July 1771 Came the within named Mary Strachan, John Davidson and Eleanor his Wife and Margaret Strachan before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the Provincial Court and severally acknowledged the within Deed to be their Act and Deed and the Land and Premises within mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the within named James Dick his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the true Intent and Meaning of the within Deed and the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided Dan of S.t Thomas Jenifer Received of M.r James Dick the Sum of one Penny Sterling for the Use of Lord Baltimore it being the Alienation Money on the within land by Virtue of a Commission from John Morton Jordan Esq.r his Lordship's Agent and Receiver General John Brice Recorded this fifth Day of August 1771 X.d Know all men by these Presents that I Ninian Edmonstone of Prince Georges County and Province of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Sixty Pounds Current Money in Dollars in seven Shillings and six pence each to me in hand paid at and before the Sealing and delivery of these Presents by Walter Beall of Frederick County and Province aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold and by these Presents do bargain and sell unto the said Walter Beall one Negroe fellow named Sango, Three feather Beds and Furniture two Cows, one two year old Stear, one Yearling, one Calf, and one knife now remaining & being in the Possession of the aforesaid Ninian Edmonstone To have and to hold all and singular the said Negroe Beds, Furniture Cattel and knife and every of them by these Presents bargaind and sold unto the said Walter Bell his Exec.rs Administrators and Assigns for ever And I the said Ninian Edmonstone for myself my Executors & Administrators all and singular the said Goods and Househould Stuff above mentioned that is Negro Cattel Beds Furniture and Knife unto the said Walter Beall his Executors Administrators and Assigns against me the said Ninian Edmonstone my Exec.rs and Admin.rs and against all and every other Person or Persons whatsoever shall and will warrant & for ever defend by these Presents Of which Goods I the said Ninian Edmonstone have put the said Walter Beal in full & ample Possession by delivering him one Knife aforesaid mentioned at the sealing thereof Provided Nevertheless and it is the true Intent and Meaning of these Presents that if I the said Ninian Edmonstone my Heirs Executors & Administrators or any of us do well & truly pay unto the said Walter Beall his Ex.rs Administrators or Assigns on the first Day of August In the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy four the aforesaid Sum of sixty Pounds Current Money in Dollars at seven shillings & six Pence each with legal Interest without Fraud Covin or further Delay that then this present Bill od Sale to be void & of no Effect And I the said Ninian Edmonstone do hereby bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators to pay the aforesaid sum of sixty pounds with legal Interest unto the said Walter Beall his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns firmly by these Presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal the fifth Day of Aug.t A Domini 1771 Signed Sealed & delivered and at the same time was delivered a Knife in Nin Edmonstone (seal) the Name of the Negroe Bed Furniture & Cattel mentioned in this Bill of Sale in Presence of Andrew Heugh Charles Jones Fr County 5th August 1771 Then came before us two of his Ldships Justices (of) |
