196 that the said Charles Carroll Party to these Presents for himself and by Virtue of the Power given him by the last Will and Testament of Dan.l Carroll Hath for and in Consideration of the sum of six hundred and seventy six Pounds nineteen Shillings and nine Pence Sterling to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Ensor, at and before the Sealing and Delivery of this present Indenture (The Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and doth by these Presents hold himself fully satisfied and doth thereof and therefrom acquit and discharge the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs Executors and Administrators bargained sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed, and doth by these Presents bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Joseph Ensor and his Heirs all those two Tracts of Land called Ensignes Groves and Come by Chance laying and being in Baltimore County and Containing clear of elder Surveys six hundred and forty four Acres and three Quarters of an Acre of Land belonging or anyways appurtaining unto the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs and Assigns for ever to the only proper use and Behoof of the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs and Assigns for ever and to no other use Intent or Purpose whatsoever and the said Charles Carroll for himself his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns doth by these Presents covenant and agree to and with the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns the aforesaid Tract of Land hereby and herein Conveyed to warrant and for ever defend unto the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns against all persons whatsoever Claiming or who may Claim any Right or Title to the said Lands by from or under the said Daniel Carroll and Charles Carroll party to these Presents In Witness whereof and of the foregoing Premises the Parties to these Presents have hereunto interchangeably set their Hands and affixed their Seals the Day and Year first above written Cha Carroll (seal) Signed Sealed and delivered In the Presence of Charles Carroll of Carrollton Will Deards On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed to wit 1771 March 4 Received of Joseph Ensor six hundred seventy six Pounds nineteen Shillings and nine pence Sterling being the Consideration Money within mentioned Witness Cha Carroll Charles Carroll of Carrollton Will Deards 1771 March 4 Then came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordship's Justices of the Provincial Court Charles Carroll Party to the within Deed and acknowledged the same according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Recorded this 5th Day of July 1771 Dan.l of S.t Tho.s Jenifer (vide Rect for Alienation Fine in the Margin should have come in here) Received of Cha.s Carroll Esq.r one Pound six Shillings & five Pence half Penny Alienation Fine on Come by Chance 282 acres & Ensigns Grove 380 Acres conveyed to Joseph Ensor Dan of S Tho.s Jenifer X.d This Indenture made this twenty sixth Day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Between William Woodward of Baltimore Town in Baltimore County of the one part and Walter Dulany of the City of Annapolis of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Woodward for and in Consideration of the sum of five shillings sterling Money (of) |
